I am an amazing 2-0 in my Purdue football predictions this season. Horrible at trying to predict the score, mediocre when it comes to the spread, but perfect win it comes to predicting a win or loss. If you are new to this blog, you can see my Purdue-Penn State prediction here and my Purdue-Indiana State prediction here.

And to hit you up with the refrain, I am using arbitrary data for these predictions. I am cherry picking whatever data I feel like and dropping a prediction.

Now, to deliver the most impressive threequel since Blade: Trinity.

History

Purdue and Syracuse have only played one time. The game was in 2004 at Syracuse and Purdue dropped the hammer with a 51-0 win. Not much else to say about that. Though I think there is a joke here about Syracuse losing and including a rhyme.

Third Week Rush

In the last three years, in week three games (all home games), Syracuse is 2-1. Those two wins were against Albany and Georgia Tech and the loss was against Clemson. In their two wins, Syracuse rushed for a total of 449 yards and 8 touchdowns.

In the same time span, Purdue is 0-3 in their week three games (Northwestern, Notre Dame, and TCU) with a total of 82 rushing yards across all three games and no rushing touchdowns. Yowsa.

Syracuse vs Big Ten

Syracuse is 0-2 against the Big Ten in the last three years. In their losses to Rutgers (2021) and Maryland (2019), they combined for a total of 137 rushing yards.

In the past three years, Purdue has not played a team from the ACC.

Prediction

Syracuse wins. I am probably weighting those third week games heavily. I don’t feel good about this prediction but I feel that is the defining characteristic of my best predictions.
